What do today’s workers want most? Believe it or not, money is the not their primary motivator. Recent research conducted by Gallup and others consistently indicates that the top three things employees want most are:
- A manager who has strong interpersonal skills and genuinely cares about employees as a person
- Development, training, coaching, praise and stretch assignments
- The tools and technology they need to do their jobs
The massive layoffs that began in the 1980s and still continue today shattered the once sacred contract between employees and employers that rewarded loyalty with lifetime employment. Today’s workers accept their role as free agents. They realize that employment with a company will end sooner rather than later. What they want most is a manager who takes a genuine interest in them and their development so that when it comes time to leave, they are prepared to find their next job easily. They want to build their skills, grow their resume and enjoy the time they have with their current employer.
This 2-day workshop, followed by four months of executive coaching, focuses on inspiring others to excel and deals exclusively with the human side of leadership and building strong people skills. It begins with the Leadership Challenge 360º Assessment developed by Kouzes and Posner. This assessment measures leadership effectiveness on five key dimensions: Inspiring a Shared Vision, Challenging the Process, Encouraging the Heart, Enabling Others to Act and Modeling the Way. Each participant receives a personalized feedback report, which is analyzed prior to the session as well as in group activities and engaging exercises. Participants then develop detailed action plans to leverage strengths and address development opportunities.
This workshop is followed by four months of executive coaching to ensure that participants reach their goals and hardwire new leadership behaviors. Participants emerge from the training and coaching with markedly improved people skills and the ability to inspire others to achieve extraordinary results.
